iPad Experience

With the new extension of project three we are now creating an iPad magazine. One of the greatest things about the iPad is the user experience and how we relate to it versus printed materials. With this in mind, Marty asked us to create sketches of our proposed interactive ideas. While doing some research I came across this little gem. It's an iPad App that showcases every life stage from 0 to 100. This slide show of interactive portraits engages the viewer and offers many facets of information. The movement is incredible and the content itself is moving. This here is just another example of the endless possibilities.

Jennifer Morla: Final Poster

After a long road of transformation, my poster has been locked into a final resting place (at least until critique). Due to a vivid serendipitous moment my poster has changed a bit from our last critique. The shapes in my poster are now smaller and have more room to breathe. Below is the travels to the final poster.

Posters

This here was round two of our poster iterations. The overall concept behind my posters was to abstract the familiar characteristics that make up Vanderslice. I took mostly from the molding, paneling and light fixtures due the sheer fact that these are details that make Vanderslice so beautiful. In this round I decided to go all out. Crazy even. I've begun to notice that controlling too much of anything this early in the process holds me back from truly exploring.

The winner of this round is the very top one, in which I have focused on creating a sense of space. Vanderslice is this grand interior space that has dimension and various degrees of depth.

Keetra Dean Dixon

I found Keetra's presentation to be very engaging and thought provoking, as well as exciting. Her work has a wide range of variety and pushes the boundaries of graphic design as a whole. One of my favorite projects of hers was the Moments Between Me and You series. I feel that this a very clever and humorous idea that is memorable. I also find her ability to take risks to be very inspiring. She does not shy away from experimenting and pushing her ideas to the next level by simply asking her self, "what if?…" which is something I feel that I could do more often. One of her last statements was about making the work that she wishes she was making; allowing herself to generate work through her desires and making what she wants to see. If she doesn't make it then no one else will, or better yet, someone else just might.

Final Storyboard

Below is my final story board for our typographic campaign. As of now my animation has deviated from the story board, however it's been most helpful to have this story board to refer to when I deviate too far from the original plan. It helps having a solid visual representation to be able to go back and look at so that I do not get confused in all the alterations I am making.

Revised Billboards and Bus Wraps

This project began with me being unable to find a strong connection between concept and form. After much thought and a talk with Marty, I have found a solution. The idea behind my campaign was to bring attention to how crucial risk taking is in the process of graphic design. I've highlighted the key word(s) in each quote to match the error found in each of the typographic compositions. The billboards and bus wraps below have been critiqued by my fellow designers and revisions are on their way.
